Over the past three years, the IDTs in this migrant Adivasi village have been able to earn ?20 lakh through MNREGA work.

Kamentogu is a settlement of Internally Displaced tribal people (IDTs) located in the reserved forest area of Murumuru Gram Panchayat, Ettapaka Mandal, Chinturu Division, in the present Polavaram district in AP. Residents settled here approximately 22 years ago.  They migrated from the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh due to conflicts in that region. Currently, there are 46 families living in the settlement.

In 2024, we facilitated the issuance or activation of MNREGA cards for every household in this village and have been providing employment opportunities in the nearby revenue village of Murumuru. Murumuru is located 5 kilometers away from this tribal migrant settlement of Kamentogu. Every day, the residents travel to Murumuru to complete their MNREGA work and return homes. So far, we have successfully prevented their job cards from being cancelled during the deletion process.

Over the past three years, MNREGA cards and employment were ensured for all 46 IDP families in the settlement; additionally, new MNREGA cards were obtained for 12 newlywed couples who had established separate households. We were able to appoint Madakam Rakesh, an IDT youth from the settlement, as MNREGA 'Mate'. Last year, the e-KYC process was completed for all 162 MNREGA workers in the settlement, so now they are currently not facing issues with NMMS-based attendance recording.
